Fiqh
The great jurist of Kufa, through whom Ibn Mas'ud's school passed to Abu Hanifa.
Ibrahim al-Nakha'i grew up in Kufa among the students of 'Abd Allah ibn Mas'ud, including his uncles 'Alqamah and al-Aswad. He saw 'A'ishah as a boy but did not narrate from her. He became known as the jurist of Iraq (faqih al-'Iraq), combining reports from the Companions with careful legal reasoning.
He preferred not to sit in the front of gatherings and disliked fame. His student Hammad ibn Abi Sulayman passed on his method to Abu Hanifa, which makes him one of the main roots of the Hanafi school.
