Prophets Prophethood from historical tradition

Son of Adam, remembered in historical tradition as his successor and a prophet.

Shith was a son of Adam and Hawwa, born after the death of Habil (Abel). Historical traditions recorded by al-Tabari and Ibn Kathir describe him as Adam's appointed successor, who carried on his father's teaching. A report attributed to Abu Dharr says fifty scrolls were revealed to him, though most hadith critics consider that report weak.

The Quran does not mention him by name, so his place among the prophets rests on these historical reports. Genealogies of the early historians trace humanity's line through him to Nuh.
