Prophets Named in the Quran

Nephew of Ibrahim, sent to a people who committed indecencies no one had done before them.

Lut believed in his uncle Ibrahim and migrated with him from Iraq towards the land of Sham. He was then sent to a people, usually identified with Sodom, who committed an indecency that no nation before them had done and who waylaid travellers. He warned them again and again, but they threatened to drive him out of their town.

Angels came to him as guests and told him to leave by night with his family, except his wife, who stayed behind with the people. The towns were overturned and stones of baked clay rained down on them. The Quran leaves their ruins as a sign for those who reflect.
