Prophets Named in the Quran
Khalilullah, the Friend of Allah. Father of prophets and builder of the Ka'bah.
Ibrahim rejected the idols of his people and his father, and argued for the worship of the One God. He broke the idols and was thrown into a fire, which Allah made cool and safe for him. He migrated with his wife Sarah and his nephew Lut towards the land of Sham.
At Allah's command he left Hajar and their infant Isma'il in the barren valley of Makkah, where the well of Zamzam sprang up. Years later, father and son raised the foundations of the Ka'bah together. His willingness to sacrifice his son is remembered every year at Eid al-Adha. He is called the father of the prophets: both Ishaq's line (including Musa and 'Isa) and Isma'il's line (including Muhammad ﷺ) descend from him.
