عبد الله بن عمر
Ibn 'Umar (RA)
'Abd Allah ibn 'Umar
Also known as: Abdullah ibn Umar
c. 12 BH – 73 AH · c. 610–693 CE
Companions
Son of 'Umar, famed for following the Sunnah in every detail.
Ibn 'Umar accepted Islam as a boy with his father and made the hijrah to Madinah. He was turned away from Badr and Uhud for being too young, and he first fought at the Battle of the Trench. He became known for following the example of the Prophet ﷺ down to the smallest detail, even stopping where the Prophet ﷺ had stopped on a journey.
He was one of the great narrators of hadith and a leading jurist of Madinah for some sixty years after the Prophet ﷺ. He refused positions of power and kept away from the civil wars. His freed slave Nafi' passed his knowledge on to Imam Malik.
