Hadith Hanbali Fiqh
Hanbali hadith scholar of Damascus, author of Jami' al-'Ulum wa al-Hikam.
Ibn Rajab was born in Baghdad and raised in Damascus, where he studied with Ibn al-Qayyim and other leading scholars. He became known for his deep knowledge of hadith and its hidden defects, and for his gentle, spiritual style of writing.
His Jami' al-'Ulum wa al-Hikam, a commentary on al-Nawawi's Forty Hadith with eight more added, is one of the most loved books on Islamic ethics. He also wrote a partial commentary on Sahih al-Bukhari, also called Fath al-Bari, Lata'if al-Ma'arif on the seasons of the Islamic year, and the biographical history of the Hanbali scholars used on this site.
