Hadith
Compiler of Sunan Ibn Majah, counted among the six major hadith collections.
Muhammad ibn Yazid ibn Majah was a scholar of Qazvin who travelled widely for hadith. He also wrote a Quran commentary and a history, which have not survived.
His Sunan contains about 4,300 hadith, including many not found in the other collections. Later scholars, beginning around the sixth Hijri century, added it as the sixth of the canonical books, though it contains more weak reports than the others.
