Sent to the mighty people of 'Ad, who were destroyed by a furious wind.
Hud was sent to 'Ad, a powerful people who built lofty monuments and took pride in their strength. He called them to worship Allah alone and to give thanks for His blessings. They rejected him, and Allah sent a cold, roaring wind that raged for seven nights and eight days, saving Hud and those who believed.
He is one of the four Arab prophets mentioned in hadith, with Salih, Shu'ayb and Muhammad ﷺ.
