Prophets Named in the Quran
Praised in the Quran among the patient and the best, though little is known of his life.
The Quran mentions Dhul-Kifl twice, alongside Isma'il, Idris and Alyasa', among the patient, the righteous and 'the best' (21:85–86; 38:48). It gives no further details of his life.
Commentators differ about who he was. Some identify him with the Biblical prophet Ezekiel (Hizqil); others say he was a righteous man who took on a pledge (kafala) to fast by day, pray by night and judge without anger. A minority held that he was a righteous man rather than a prophet. In Southeast Asia he is known as Nabi Zulkifli.
