Prophets Named in the Quran
Prophet and king who slew Jalut and was given the Zabur (Psalms).
As a young soldier in Talut's army, Dawud killed the giant Jalut (Goliath). Allah later gave him kingship, wisdom and the Zabur. The mountains and the birds glorified Allah along with him, and iron was made soft in his hands so that he could make coats of mail.
The Prophet ﷺ described the fast of Dawud, fasting one day and not the next, as the most beloved voluntary fast. He also praised Dawud for eating only from what he earned with his own hands.
