Prophets Named in the Quran
The model of patience, tested with the loss of his wealth, his family and his health.
Ayyub was a prophet blessed with wealth and many children. He was tested by losing them all and by a long illness. Through years of suffering he stayed patient and grateful, calling on his Lord: 'Harm has touched me, and You are the Most Merciful of the merciful' (21:83).
Allah answered him and told him to strike the ground with his foot. A spring of cool water came forth, and he was healed. His family and wealth were restored to him, and more besides. The Quran says of him: 'Truly We found him patient. What an excellent servant! He constantly turned to Us' (38:44).
