'She of the two belts', who carried food to the Prophet ﷺ and Abu Bakr in the cave.
Asma' was the elder daughter of Abu Bakr and one of the early Muslims. During the Hijrah, when the Prophet ﷺ and her father hid in the Cave of Thawr, she carried food and water to them. She tore her waistband in two to tie the provisions, and the Prophet ﷺ called her Dhat al-Nitaqayn, 'she of the two belts'.
She married al-Zubayr ibn al-'Awwam, and her son 'Abd Allah was the first child born to the Muhajirun in Madinah. She lived to about one hundred, keeping her sharp mind, and died in Makkah soon after her son was killed in 73 AH.
